1939 Founding of the “Karl Schmidt Präzisions-Flugzeugteile“ company
1949 Commenced production of water pumps and the recycling of used water pumps for vehicles
1958 Series production of coolant pumps for Horch, Sachsenring Zwickau and automobile plant Eisenach;
Manufacturing of oil pumps and windscreen washer systems
1963 Development and production of mechanical seals
1967 Awarded first gold medal at the Leipzig Trade Fair for diesel truck engine water pumps
1972 Nationalization of enterprise and founding of VEB GPM
1990 Re-privatisation under the Managing Director Dr. Eugen Schmidt of „Geräte- und Pumpenbau GmbH“
1991 First major commissioning of water pumps
1996 Commenced production of front end modules
1997 Introduction of networked automated production of water pumps
1998 Commenced production with injected silicon seals
2001 Construction of foreign location in Brazil, extension of Merbelsrod location
2002 Relocation of R&D and installation of modern test station in the new manufacturing area
2003 Launch of completed manufacturing facility with networked, automated system in the new manufacturing area
2005 Beginning of the production of water pumps with coupling units
2006 Launch of a further manufacturing section of 4000 m²
2008 Opening of our subsidiary GPM Automotive Pumps Suzhou, China and GPM North America Corporation (Office) in Troy, USA
2011 In January 2011, Andreas Schmidt (CEO), Ulrich Döhler and Michael Grellmann were appointed to the management of the company
